據國外媒體報導，有消息人士透露，微軟或於2015年推出WindowsPhone 9作業系統，該系統最大亮點在於，其或將同時支援手機和平板電腦。此消息來源於Mobile-Review的Eldar Murtazin，此前他曾准確的預言了Windows Mobile作業系統會在2009年的8月遭淘汰。

據人民網報導，Murtazin透露，新的Windows Phone 9系統，會與此前的Windows Phone 8將有很大的不同，但是否會放棄原本的Modern UI還不得而知。目前微軟已經組建了一直用於新系統開發的團隊，並且將會在今年第三季度拿出設計方案，來保証2015年新系統順利發布。
