新竹市多元族群文化和樂融融,連續第二年舉辦的客家月活動2日起在新竹市孔廟前廣場邀請民眾共下來聊,「客家粄圓比賽」、「客家失傳民俗技藝表演」熱鬧溫馨,闖關換美食、體驗客家湯圓,香味四溢,迴盪天際,從飲食文化的差異,領會開疆闢土克勤克儉的純樸,省思當下,傚法前人!

「2013新竹市客家月活動」2日客家粄圓比賽、客家失傳民俗技藝表演,邀請私房好手共同較勁,現場驚呼連連,掌聲不歇,大家忙著將糯米、蓬萊米混合並用清水浸透後,磨漿壓乾並製成粄胚,用手壓製成左右相稱之粄片搓揉,或可取內餡置於粄片中,包捏封妥之後再用雙掌將其補搓圓為大粄圓。

30參賽隊伍分三梯次七手八腳齊心捏搓揉,會場一時間猶如跳韻律操般搖晃起來,搭配烹調美味,熱鬧歡騰。當沉入鍋底之粄圓自行浮起時,即代表熟透,可撈起食用,現場參賽隊伍也招待民眾品嚐新鮮好料。

考究客家習俗上,是冬至開始打粄圓(小),祭拜後粘於門扉、窗戶、椅桌、床櫃等處,稱為「餉耗」,以犒賞一年來的辛勞,此「冬節圓」日久乾燥後,再拿下來給小孩吃,有保佑長大的功效,相傳也是酬謝牛隻常年辛勤工作的禮物。
